He placed in all four events: second in both steer riding and team roping; fourth in goat tying; and fifth in boys breakaway. Lozares, a Mountain View resident, is now tied for the lead in the all-around standings for the season. Smith-Hams honored Pinewood School senior Lauren Smith-Hams and Bellarmine Prep's Jeb Ivey last month were honored as Mid-Peninsula high school basketball players of the year by the Palo Club of Palo Alto. Smith-Hams, a point guard, led the Panthers to section and state titles this past season. She will attend the University of Southern California. Soccer tryouts A boys under-13 CYSA Class III soccer team is holding tryouts Saturday and Monday at Santa Rita School in Los Altos. Tryouts are from 10-11:30 a.m., Saturday and 5-6:30 p.m., Monday. For more information, call coach Jim Geers at 941-5366. Swimmers sought The Los Altos-Mountain View Aquatics Club is scheduling tryouts for summer swimmers ages 5-18.
