Last week's article about the first Farmers Market at Foothill College contained several misquotes attributed to market manager Gail Hayden.

Hayden said she did not say "Loyola Corners politicked to get rid of us, and we won't go where we aren't wanted." In fact, she said the market left Loyola Corners because there wasn't enough parking to accommodate all the customers.

In addition, she did not say that Los Altos refused to have the market on a Saturday and that Foothill College was the only place that would take it. In fact, Los Altos wanted the Farmers Market and several churches in the area offered space, Hayden noted.

She also refuted the report that attendance at Foothill was "sparse." Hayden said attendance at the first Foothill market was greater than any market at Loyola Corners because of the additional parking available.

Hayden said she would not make such statements because she values her relationships with farmers and business and city officials.

She said the misquotes jeopardize these relationships.

The Town Crier regrets the misinformation.
