SF grad honored Natalie Verna, a recent graduate of St. Francis High, was among six prep athletes in the county to be awarded a $1,000 scholarship May 20 at the Charlie Wedemeyer Celebration Gala. Winners were nominated by their athletic directors and coaches for overcoming some type of adversity and/or for giving back to the community. Verna competed in soccer and field hockey. Run for kids The annual Fujitsu-KNTV 11 Run for the Kids charity race begins at 8:30 a.m., Sunday at the corner of North First and Rio Robles streets in San Jose. The 5K and 10K runs and the two-mile walk will go around some of the last remaining farm land in north San Jose. Race-day registration is $20, $10 for those under age 12.
