Dance band ensures millennium event will be going 'full motion'

Full Motion, a contemporary show band, will transport Los Altos Millennium Celebration revelers from one century to the next on Dec. 31. Featuring "the best dance music of the 1960s to the 1990s, Full Motion will be on stage from 10:30 p.m. till 1 a.m." said Rick Herns, producer of the Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Millennium Celebration.

Except for a break at midnight for the Midnight Extravaganza, "Full Motion features a non-stop chorus of dancers, extravagant costumes and choreography that will leave the partygoers breathless,"Herns said.

A16-member entertainment group, Full Motion includes four dancers, four rhythm players, four horn players and four singers. The combination is a mix of dance band and Las Vegas-level stage show that is full of surprises, Herns said.

All but two performers are "wireless," which means that they wear headsets, if they are singers, and wireless microphones if they are working with instruments. The result of all this wireless technology is a stage full of movement.

Jeff Nuss, founder and director, said this not only gives his entertainers the freedom to move; he actually encourages them "to make decisions about where to go and what to do during the show to interact with the audience."

Full Motion dancers may go through as many as four costume changes in a single show. The custom-made costumes "really catch the eye of the audience," Nuss said. The huge repertoire of music also encourages the audience to watch, dance and participate.

Tickets for the Millennium celebration are being mailed to all Los Altos and Los Altos Hills residents. Flyers with more event details are available at the Town Crier, City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce.
