New construction in Los Altos Hills currently requires approval by the Planning Commission.

When the fast-track ordinance takes effect in about six weeks, some projects will be able to go straight to the City Council for approval.

Council members hope to eliminate inconsistencies between the ordinance and current town design guidelines.

Mayor Elayne Dauber and council member Toni Casey will sit on a subcommittee to identify potential problems and bring them back to the council.

Council member Bob Johnson emphasized it is clear in the ordinance that when the ordinance and Design Guidelines are in conflict, the ordinance takes precedence.
