Two student-parent-teacher panels were scheduled to interview nine final candidates Tuesday and today. They will narrow the list to three, said a spokeswoman from the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District. Superintendent Rich Fischer will interview the three finalists before making a recommendation to the board of trustees by the end of this month, she said. The spokeswoman said one panel would choose candidates based on their personal qualities and the other would choose candidates based on their professional qualifications. Panel members compiled a list of desirable qualities to consider when choosing the new principal. Top qualities include: approachable; balanced interest in school programs; advocate for all students; and good sense of humor. The new principal will replace David Brazer, who announced his resignation in April. He will assume an assistant teaching position in the graduate program for educational administration at George Mason University in Virginia. Brazer is scheduled to remain at Los Altos High through June 30. |
