The Mountain View City Council looked at salaries and other employee benefits during a June 22 closed session. The annual review of public officials evaluated compensation for city attorney, auditor and city manager.

The council meeting also covered employee performance evaluations and labor negotiations for city employees in the maintenance, clerical and technical areas.

Jane McCrea, community relations officer for the city of Mountain View, said that the annual review is a business-as-usual process to look at benefits for members of the Service Employees International Union that covers one of the main classifications in city government. The SEIU is one of three unions representing city employees. City police officers and firefighters are also represented by unions.

Topics at the sessions typically cover health care benefits and compensation. The sessions are closed because they cover confidential information.

The Mountain View City Council meets bi-weekly on Tuesday nights. The sessions are usually open to the public. Minutes of open city council meetings are available in the city clerk's office, and are posted on the Internet three weeks after the meetings. The two-hour sessions can also be viewed on Public Access TV on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
