Daniela Roark of Los Altos heads to Springfield, Mo., this week to play in the AAU Girls National Basketball Tournament.
The 5-foot-3 Roark was the only 11 year-old to make the 12 and under select Metro San Jose team competing in the tournament, which runs this Friday through July 24.
Metro San Jose qualified for the national tournament by placing second in the Pacific Association AAU tournament in Petaluma over Memorial Day weekend.
The team lost in the final seconds to the East Bay eXplosion, a team with three girls above 6-feet - two of them the twin daughters of former San Francisco 49er Bubba Paris.
Roark just completed sixth grade at Loyola School, and will attend Blach Junior High in the fall.
In April Roark led the West San Jose NJB Division 2 girls to victory in the consolation round of the NJB National All Star Tournament in Los Angeles.
With the score tied 23-23 going into the fourth quarter against North Huntington Beach, Roark took charge. She made six steals and scored 10 points in the final quarter as her team went on to win 35-29.
Roark was joined on the NJB All Star team by Los Altos Hills residents Natalie Seuferlein, Heather Middleton and Chelsea Wilson.
