Graduates

Eliot Michaelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Michaelson of Los Altos, graduated June 6 from Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. He was inducted into the Cum Laude Society, a national academic honor society. He was awarded a Sherman Hoar Prize in American history and a prize in Japanese.

Anna M. Michel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Michel of Los Altos, and Laura V. Rusch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Rusch of Los Altos, recently graduated from Emory University in Atlanta.

Kathleen A. Straw of Los Altos recently earned a master's degree in public health from Boston University.

Los Altos Hills residents Jacqueline T. Koo and Tomoko M. Nakajima recently graduated from Boston University. Koo earned a medical degree, cum laude, and Tomoko received a bachelor's degree in music education, cum laude.

Lindsay Kurz, daughter of Edward and Nancy Jo Kurz of Los Altos, recently received a bachelor's degree in English cum laude from Carleton College.

Mary Oppezzo, daughter of Fred and Georgette Oppezzo of Los Altos, graduated June 12 from Santa Clara University with the following honors: distinction in majors, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honor society. A valedictorian graduate from Mountain View High School, where Oppezzo's father teaches, Oppezzo earned bachelor's degrees in psychology and Italian. Oppezzo attended Oak School, where her mother has been a teacher for 14 years.

Dean's list/awards

Christopher Miller, son of Robert and Catherine Miller of Los Altos, was one of 67 graduating seniors inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Gregory Scott Mitchell of Los Altos was among the 37 students recently initiated into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society at Duke University. He is studying biology.
