Alternative medicine and the public

Dr. Wallace Sampson will speak about the press and academic interest in alternative medicine. The seminar is scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m., Monday, in Park Pavilion, rooms L and M.

Attitude and stress affect the heart

Dr. James Joye will explain how diet, exercise, attitude and stress can affect the heart. He also will describe recent treatments for cardiovascular diseases. Joye will speak from 1:30-3:00 p.m., Aug. 11 in Park Pavilion, Room O.

How to protect against scams

Phyllis Ogden, owner of PRO Check Writing, will teach the "3 G's of a Scam Victim" and give pointers on protecting oneself against con artists who target the elderly. She will speak from 3-4:30 p.m., Aug. 26 in El Camino Hospital, rooms B and C.

Hearing problems and treatments

The Older Adult Resource Center, based at El Camino Hospital, has speakers scheduled to discuss senior issues from July through September. Registration is required at (800) 216-5556, and the cost is $3 (free to all Over 55 members). The center is located behind the hospital at 2400 Hospital Drive in Mountain View.
