We've got Juli Inkster. Inkster, for you non-golfers who wondered about the congratulatory banner hanging from Rancho Shopping Center, is having a phenomenal year on the women's pro golf circuit. In the span of a month, she won both the prestigious U.S. Women's Open and the LPGA Championship. No stranger to phenomenal success, she started her career in a huge way, winning three consecutive U.S. Amateur titles from 1980-82. But beyond skills and statistics, the longtime Los Altos resident is a down-to-earth, gracious person, a mom who puts raising kids and family first. All the more reason Inkster deserves a special place in our city's pride. Out of respect for her need for privacy, we will refrain from parades or special days. But we are indeed proud to share a city with one of the great golfers of all time. We are proud that she is bringing home such golfing glory to Los Altos. Juli Inkster, you're the greatest! |
