LAH diver wins regional competition

Sara Bowling of Los Altos Hills won the girls 14-15 age division in platform diving July 11 at the U.S. Diving Junior Region 10 championships in Seattle.

Bowling, who's entering her sophomore year at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, is part of a club diving team based at Stanford.

In addition to her first-place finish in platform, Bowling took third in the 3-meter springboard competition and fifth in the 1-meter springboard.

Bowling was scheduled to participate in the Senior Geographic Zone championships last weekend in Phoenix.

Next weekend, Bowling plans to compete in the Junior Zone E competition in Portland, Ore.

If Bowling finishes among the top six divers in Portland, she qualifies for next month's National Championships in St. Peter's, Fla.
