'Hi' honors

Cal-Hi Sports recently announced its honorees for the 1998-99 school year. The newsletter named Pinewood School's Lauren Smith-Hams its State Athlete of the Year in Division V for her play in basketball and volleyball. St. Francis High first baseman Garrett Cook was voted to the All-Enrollment Team for baseball and teammate Dustin Hahn, an outfielder, made the All-State Underclass Team.

Saddle up

The second annual La Honda Ranch Rodeo is set for Friday through Sunday at Tichenor Ranch in La Honda. Rodeo competitions include bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer riding, team penning and more. For times, tickets and more information, call Scott Tiernan at 747-0481.

What a racquet

The YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, 755 Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, is organizing a fall racquetball League Sept. 11 through Nov. 14. The league welcomes A-, B-, C- and D-level players. Sign-up deadline is Aug. 27. Fees are $20 for members, $26 for non-members. For more information, call 858-0661.

The city of Mountain View is hosting a Family Swim Night from 5-7 p.m., July 31 at Rengstorff Pool, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave., Mountain View. Regular recreation swim prices apply, and children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 903-6331.

Camp for kids
