Local libraries now on Windows NT
The Los Altos and Woodland libraries now offer new computers and a new look to the catalog. In July, the Santa Clara County Library system, of which Los Altos is a part, upgraded its computers to Windows NT and now offers Pac4Windows on almost all terminals.
Library users now have better access to their own library accounts; Web versions of EBSCOhost and InfoTrac, periodical services that offer indexing and full-text articles; Netscape and Internet Explorer Web browsers on designated machines; and better access to databases.
This enhancement to library service has been made possible in part through a donation from local resident Steve Kirsch and his company, Infoseek.
