Take a swing

The 28th annual Palo Alto Junior Golf Classic is set for Aug. 4 at the newly renovated Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Boys and girls who have not reached their 17th birthday before the tournament are eligible. Cost is $18 and space is limited. For more information, call 329-2686.

A triple threat

Patricia Phillips of Los Altos notched a pair of second-place finishes at triathlons held last month. She was second overall in the San Jose International Triathlon at Almaden Lake Park and second in the 34-39 age division of the Danskin Women's Triathlon Series, also held at Almaden Lake. Triathlons are races that involve swimming, bicycling and running.

Kicking camp

Pinewood School is hosting two soccer camps in August, run by coaches Cory Cullinan and Tia Brown. The first camp, Aug. 2-6, is for first through sixth graders. The second camp, Aug. 9-13, is for seventh through 12th graders. Sessions run from 2 to 5 p.m. Camps focus on skills and strategy. Cost is $85, which includes T-shirt. Blow the whistle

The Peninsula Soccer Referees Association and the San Jose Referee Association are holding a clinic for advanced AYSO and USSF soccer refs from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Sacred Heart Prep, 150 Valparaiso Ave., Atherton.
