Billed as the oldest professional women's tennis tournament in the world, the event runs through Sunday. The $500,000 competition started with 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Leading the list of top players taking part in the tourney is No. 1 ranked Lindsay Davenport. The 23-year-old won the singles and doubles titles at last year's Bank of the West. Davenport also captured this year's Wimbledon singles championship. Other big-name performers include Venus Williams, Anna Kournikova, Iva Majoli, Mary Joe Fernandez, Amanda Coetzer and Conchita Martinez. Day matches start at noon, today through Saturday. Night matches begin at 7:30 p.m., today through Saturday. The finals are at noon, Sunday. Tickets are $10 to $35 for day and evening sessions held today through Thursday, $12 to $40 for day and evening sessions on Friday and Saturday and $20 to $60 for Sunday's final.
