Shirley Harbaugh liked frogs. In fact, she loved frogs.

After she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, her family helped her create a non-profit organization to hold an annual run to raise money for cancer, particularly gynecologic cancers. The event was named the Frog Jog.

Harbaugh died four years ago, just before the first Frog Jog.

Ernest Wong, 32, assistant vice president at the Bank of Los Altos, is carrying on. Shirley's son "was a grade school friend of mine. We grew up in Sunnyvale together," he said.

This year's Frog Jog will be at 9 a.m., Sunday, at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

About 1,000 runners participated last year, Wong said.

Cost of the Frog Jog is $20. For more information or a brochure and entry blank on the event, call Ernest Wong, 917-5363, or the Frog Jog Running Club, (408) 733-7931.
