Put your party hats on, it's time to celebrate the year 2000 at the Peninsula's only millennium extravaganza.
The Los Altos Millennium Celebration is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, at the Hillview Community Center.
With family-oriented festivities, the event features three celebration packages from which to choose.
The first is the Millennium Club package which includes cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a five-star dinner, entertainment, dancing and special midnight festivities.
Musical performers scheduled for the evening include Full Motion and the Bay Area All Star Big Band.
Club Package tickets can be purchased for $450 until Aug. 15.
After that, ticket prices will be $500 per person.
For the late-night party goers interested in dancing the night away with champagne toasts and special midnight celebrations, the Countdown 2000 Package beginning at 10:30 p.m. can be purchased for $75 per person.
For the same price, parents can purchase the Youth Arcade Package aimed exclusively for children ages 8 years and older. Activities begin at 7 p.m. and include video games, dancing and a variety of food.
Child-care programs and overnight slumber parties are also available for children whose parents are Millennium Club ticket holders and prefer to spend the evening exclusively with adults.
For those interested in donating, Millennium Celebration sponsorships can be purchased. Sponsors receive reserved group seating, valet parking, name and logo recognition and more.
Black tie is optional. Proceeds will benefit the Education Center at History House. For more information, call 941-0786.
