One after another, between 8 and 9 a.m. July 29, callers reported burglaries as they entered their Grant Road offices or businesses.
In the 1400 block of Grant Road, a school office was broken into.
A burglar took cash and rifled desks. Police said access was possibly through a bathroom window.
A few blocks a way, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the 1700 block of Grant Road, someone burglarized the church and day-care center.
When an employee came to work, she found the center open. She told police the business checkbook was missing.
In the 2200 block of Grant Road, near the Lucky supermarket, a business owner said a burglar broke into her hair salon and took cash.
The Mountain View portion of Grant Road was not affected by burglaries that night, said Sgt. Mark Macaulay of the Los Altos Police Department.
He said burglars generally work alone, but he didn't know if there had been just one or more than one person involved in the July 29 break-ins.
When asked about fingerprints, Macaulay said "we have a few things, a few leads."
