The day-long equestrian festival is set for Saturday on the Stanford University campus. Equestrian events scheduled include demonstrations of different horse breeds and riding activities. There also will be exhibits, a petting zoo and a silent auction. The festival is focused on fun and educational activities for families. There will be several different breeds of horses on hand, including Andalusians, Icelandic ponies and Arabians. The horses will perform in historic and traditional roles and in their modern roles of riding and driving. A team of 250-pound miniature horses will perform a quadrille in harness and the Pebble Beach Drill Team will demonstrate riding without the benefit of saddles or bridles - with only a rope around each horse's neck. The Los Altos Hunt and Hounds also will show off their talents. Tickets for the 11 a.m. program will be sold at the gate for $5-$10. Tickets to the 5:30 p.m. event must be purchased in advance for $40 and include dinner. For tickets and more information, call 322-5713. |
