Technology Society luncheon program

The Mountain View-based Technology and Society Committee holds its luncheon series, every other week, at 11:45 a.m., Tuesdays, at the Golden Wok, 895 Villa St., Mountain View.

The next luncheon will be Aug. 31. Dr. Robert Aiello will be talking on "Ultra Wideband: A New Wireless Technology for New Applications." Aiello, a physicist, is a member of the research staff of Paul Allen's Interval Research Corporation in Palo Alto. For more information, call Bob Kirby, 969-7215.

Grants available for Peninsula artists

The Peninsula Community Foundation is seeking proposals from rising Peninsula artists as part of its Emerging Art Fund. The fund provides grants of up to $5,000 to individuals whose art is culturally diverse, inner-city focused, or indigenous to the Peninsula. The application deadline is 5 p.m., Sept. 3.

Women in Business meet for lunch

The Mountain View Chamber of Commerce hosts a Women in Business luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sept. 14, at Michaels at Shoreline, 2960 N. Shoreline Blvd., in Mountain View. Joan Perry, a writer and financial coach, will speak on her book, "Why a Girl Needs Cash."

Cost is $23, members; non-members are $30. Cost for a three-month reservation package is $63 for members, $84 for non-members.
