Robert David de Vos, son of Chris and Karen de Vos of Los Altos, recently graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. De Vos participated in the five-year cooperative education program and graduated with high honors with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering. De Vos made the dean's list every quarter he was enrolled at Georgia Tech. He is finishing his 2,160-mile hike of the Appalachian Trail this month. He plans to attend a master's program in computer engineering this fall at Georgia Tech.
Chelsea H. Clifford of Los Altos recently received her bachelor's degree in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The following Los Altos residents recently graduated from the University of Oregon: Eryn Elline Schroeder, bachelor's degree in science and journalism; and Bryan Jon Stevens, beachelor's degree in fine and applied arts. Kevin Gerald Nelson of Los Altos Hills earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.
Laura V. Rusch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Rusch, recently graduated from Emory University School of Medicine with a master's degree. She is currently pursuing a pediatric residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver.
Former Los Altos resident Lisa Willwerth, daughter of Bob and Jean Willwerth, graduated in June with a bachelor's degree in nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, where she is currently working at the university's hospital. Willwerth is a graduate of Homestead High School. She graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in occupational therapy.

The Los Altos Rotary Club has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 13 students from three high schools and Foothill College. The students and amounts are: Los Altos High School: Nga Doan, $1,500; Jonathan Ha, $250; Eva Kaye, $250; Hana Zhong, $1,500. Mountain View High School: Brian Cordero, $500; Alta Vista High School: Joel Manglicmot, $700; Rosa Melgar, $700; Allison Novak, $700. Graduating Foothill College students, transferring to higher education: Janelle Tillotson, $1,100; Elisheva Basseri, $500; Ketty Tanizar, $500; Malcolm Harvey, $1,100.
Sarena Pooja Jaggia of Los Altos accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at the University of California, Los Angeles. The scholars society is a highly selective, national non-profit honors organization that recognizes undergraduate students who excel academically. Jaggia was also named to the National Dean's List.
Heidi Carol Fernandez of Los Altos earned academic honors for the spring 1999 semester at Purdue University for earning a grade point average of at least 3.5.
Sara LaBoskey of Los Altos accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at Duke University.
Elizabeth Beetem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Beetem of Los Altos, and Brooke A. Rea, daughter of Mr. C. Woodrow Rea Jr. of Los Altos Hills and Sue Rea of Los Altos, were named college scholars for academic excellence during the spring term at Middlebury College in Vermont.
Menlo School student Melissa Fusco of Los Altos recently won national and regional rankings in the National French Contest examination. Menlo School student Karen Wei of Los Altos Hills recently won regional ranking at the examination.
The following students were named to the dean's honor list last spring at the University of California, Santa Barbara: Judd Golladay Stiff III of Los Altos and Mountain View residents Galen Douglas Donaldson, Jennifer Leah Ropers, Claire Patricia Smith and Gina Marie Biegel.
