Ray Calcagno, former head coach at St. Ignatius and Mountain View highs, has joined the football coaching staff at St. Francis High.

Calcagno, a Little All American quarterback for Santa Clara University from 1964-67, began his high school coaching career in 1972 when he joined his brother Ron Calcagno's staff at St. Francis.

In 1979, he became the head coach at St. Ignatius and later moved to the head coaching spot at Mountain View.

"We are very excited to have Ray back on our staff after 20 years of coaching at other schools," St. Francis athletic director Steve DeMaestri said. "Ray is an outstanding person and coach who will be a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff."

Said St. Francis head coach Mike Mitchell, "Ray Calcagno will work with our quarterbacks. He is an excellent teacher of quarterback fundamentals and will help our quarterbacks play with skill and confidence. We are thrilled to have him back in Lancer football."

Calcagno resides in Mountain View with his wife Sharon and their three children Kristi, Jason and Brian.
