Hosted by the Rancho Merchants Association, the proceeds benefit the Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade held in downtown Los Altos in November. "It's a family event where the entire family can come and enjoy the event together," said Kevin Sawyer, chairman of the event. Steve Wozniak's "A Sound Investment" will play music of the 1950s and later to encourage dancing by all ages. There will be prizes for costumes and dancing, and classic period cars will be on display. The Stanford University band will be a special attraction. Free tickets to the Sept. 11 Stanford game will be given to all children. "We expect more than 2,000 people to attend the event because each year it becomes more popular as a place to bring the entire family," Sawyer said. "It's the only street dance in Los Altos." Admission is $5 per person. No young people under 18 will be admitted unless accompanied by a parent or adult. Tickets are available at the event. Reservations are not required. |
