Chefs Who Care, a fund-raising dinner program which donates half the dinner price to the food and nutritional center of the Mountain View-based Community Services Agency, is back. The next dinner will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Sept. 13 at Michaels At Shoreline restaurant, 2960 N. Shoreline Blvd., in Mountain View. Cost is $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Dinner will be an Italian country buffet, with Caesar salad, barbecued rosemary chicken, penne masta marinara, sorbet, tea and coffee.

'New Generations' symposium set
Partners for New Generations, a partnership of the Rotary Clubs of Los Altos and Mountain View, holds its annual Symposium for Youth at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 30 at Graham Middle School in Mountain View.
The symposium program features radio sports personality Joe Eyck and the Rev. Mark Bollwinkle, head pastor of the United Methodist Church in Los Altos. Representatives from as many as 14 local programs and agencies will be present at the free symposium to speak about volunteer opportunities with young people, including tutoring, mentoring and coaching.

The oral history program of the Los Altos History House Museum is looking for current or past residents with personal memories or historic records of Twelve Acres Inc. from 1924 to 1970, and from prior to the fire in 1960.

Gift shop manager sought for education center
Volunteer management assignments are currently being considered for the new Education Center at the Los Altos History House Museum. Organizers are seeking a gift shop manager who would be responsible for buying and arranging stock, scheduling and training staff, and overseeing and reporting sales.
Museum supporters are expecting a groundbreaking for the center by this summer. Training and orientation for the new position begins this month and involves approximately four hours a week, organizers said.

Donate your car to American Red Cross
The American Red Cross in Palo Alto has initiated a vehicle donation program to generate funds for disaster preparedness and health and safety services in the community.
The Red Cross is accepting contributions of new and used, running or not, automobiles, small pick-up trucks and sport utility vehicles. A free and convenient pickup will be arranged and a tax-deductible contribution will benefit the donor, as well as the Red Cross.
