Aruna Balakrishnan, valedictorian for the Class of 1999 at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, was among the 798 students statewide to be named a Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholar.
Erin B. Ridley, daughter of Pat and Richard Ridley of Los Altos, recently received the Bishops Scholarship from the United Methodist Church California Nevada Conference. The award is given to members of the United Methodist Church, who excel academically and are active in their church and local communities, to attend the University of the Pacific. Ridley is a member of the Los Altos United Methodist Church.
Daryl Khoo, son of Sam and Pam Khoo of Mountain View, recently participated in the freshman research opportunity program at Boston University's College of Engineering. Under the guidance of Mark Karpovsky, Khoo designed and built a PC board that connects a serial port to an external hardware component. Khoo plans on majoring in electrical engineering at the University. Khoo is a 1999 graduate of Pinewood School in Los Altos Hills.
Chiyedza Nyahuye of Los Altos was accepted into the Washington Semester Program at American University for this fall. As part of the program, Nyahuye will intern with a district area company, lobbying group, non-profit or government agency with a focus in International Environment and Development. In addition, she has received a partial scholarship to the American University program.

Beail Memorial Scholarship; Jessica Christiansen, Orpha E. Beail Memorial Scholarship; and Patrick McCallum, Conejo Kennel Club Scholarship.
Sean Carson-Hull, son of Gary and Jeri Carson-Hull of Los Altos, was recently accepted into the professional training program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.
