To celebrate Banned Books Week, Sept. 25 through Oct. 2, the Los Altos Library will display books that have been banned or challenged in recent years. "Free People Read Freely" is the theme of Banned Books '99.

Tonight at 7:30 the Los Altos Library will present the first in the fall series of book discussions on "Family Life in Contemporary Fiction." Tonight's title is "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan.
