Los Altos Hills council members invite comments about town requirements for limiting exterior paint colors at a meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday.
The council is considering whether to retain current policies and regulations, change them or eliminate them entirely, according to planning director Curtis Williams.
Williams said the intent of the housing color regulation is "to provide an additional means of blending a home with its environment." Town regulations rely on either "earth-tone" colors or "light reflectivity values" to support darker tones that don't show through vegetation, as well as lighter colors. The meeting will be held at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road. Those wanting to provide comment but unable to attend the meeting may write to the town by faxing comments to 941-3160 or e-mailing: planning@losaltoshills.ca.gov.
Two arrests, none hurt during DUI cracktown
Law enforcement agencies combined to arrest 286 people, including two in Los Altos, during the "Avoid the 23" "Avoid the 21" and "Avoid the 13" crackdowns over the four-day Labor Day weekend.
Spokeswoman Jan Ford said 631 cars traveled though a police checkpoint at El Monte Road and Milverton Avenue in Los Altos. She said drivers in four cars were given field sobriety tests and two cars were impounded. The "Avoid the 13" refers to the number of law enforcement agencies in Santa Clara County. The "21" refers to participating agencies in the East Bay and the "23" represents those in San Mateo County and on the Peninsula.
No alcohol-related accidents or injuries were reported in Los Altos during the Labor Day holiday, Ford said.
