Los Altos High's junior varsity volleyball team got its season off to a great start by winning the Milpitas Tournament Sept. 11. Coach Paula McAvoy's squad posted a 5-0 record at the 24-team event. In pool play, no team scored over five points in a game against the Eagles, who went on to beat St. Ignatius 15-13, 16-14 in the title match. Los Altos was led by setter Krista Accola, who served 15 straight times in a game vs. Leland; outside hitters Jenny Rees and Robin Quill; and middle blocker Seudy Ezzatyar, the team leader in kills and blocks.

Fussing at preschool: Separation anxiety or testing his power?

Question: When I drop my 3 1/2-year-old off at his preschool, he starts crying and fussing and saying, "I don't want to go to school." Since he is the one who is constantly asking for friends to come over to play, and initially loved the school experience, I am perplexed as to how to handle his behavior. Is he too young for this separation? Am I misreading his wants/needs?
