In August Allen was presented with a two-year ROTC scholarship to complete his studies at Virginia Military Institute. Allen is a second classman pursuing a degree in civil engineering with a minor in math.
He is a former Los Altos resident and a graduate of St. Simon School and Archibishop Mitty High School.
Ariel Wade, daughter of Gail Wade, was among the 160 students chosen worldwide to participate in the BalletMet Dance Academy's annual Summer Workshop 1999 in Columbus, Ohio. The six-week program was held July 5- Aug. 13.
Cory Chabot of Mountain View recently earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Oregon.
Lauren A. Zybura, daughter of Ed and Lola Zybura, received her master's degree in teaching from the University of Puget Sound, where she also received her bachelor's degree in natural science in May 1998. Zybura was a 1994 graduate of St. Francis High School. She is employed as a second-grade teacher for the Federal Way School District in Washington.
James Sandstrom of Mountain View was recently named to the eight-member Foundation board at the University of Oregon. Sandstrom is 1964 graduate of the university and business manager at the Electric Power Research Institute. He will serve a five-year term. on the board.
Six students from the Pacific Ballet Academy in Mountain View were recently accepted, through selective auditions, to attend the following professionally-based schools throughout the United States: San Francisco Ballet School, Mary McCarthy; AMerican Ballet Theatre, Kina Poon, Katie Yang, Andrea Yung and Vivian Chen; Ballet Met, Vivian Chen (scholarship); and Briansky Ballet, Genevieve Yang. Former student Erin McNulty was accepted into the San Francisco Ballet Company as an apprentice.
