Friends of Deer Hollow Farm invite the public to their annual Ohlone Day at Deer Hollow Farm, from 1-4 p.m., Saturday. Deer Hollow Farm is located in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. Access to the event is through Rancho San Antonio County Park. Deer Hollow Farm's Ohlone Village is a level 1-mile walk from the parking lot.

Ohlone descendant, Linda Yamane, will tell Ohlone stories and demonstrate how to weave baskets. Keith Gutierrez, resident naturalist at Redwood Grove in Los Altos, will demonstrate archery and fire-starting techniques. There will also be hands-on activities: grinding acorns for food, visiting a sweat house to prepare for hunting, learning about medicinal plants and painting faces for a ceremonial day.

Friends of Deer Hollow was formed in 1994 to help preserve Deer Hollow Farm and to support its environmental education. Cost of Ohlone Day is $4 for adults, $2 for children. For more information, call 965-FARM (3276).
