FH women's water polo team aiming for the playoffs

Men's Water Polo

Foothill blasted host Ohlone 12-3 last Friday, pushing the team's conference record to 2-0. Nathan Resch scored six goals for the Owls, while Los Altos High grad Richard Dunn and Brett Slayton added two each.

Foothill opened conference play Oct. 5 with an 11-8 overtime win against visiting Santa Rosa. Resch paced the Owls with four goals and Dunn "played an excellent defensive game," coach Dave Trollope said.

Women's Golf

Foothill remained undefeated in conference play by beating Butte 325-389 Oct. 5 at Sunnyvale Muni.

The Owls (5-0) were led by AnnMarie Lee, who shot a 79. Foothill's next-best scorers were Annie Milam (81), Elizabeth Milam (82), Kathy Challice (83) and Diane Milner (88).

The Owls faced Sierra and Sacramento City Tuesday at Twelve Bridges. They return home next Tuesday to host American River, Fresno and Sierra at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View.

Football

Foothill defeated College of the Sequoias 20-10 last Saturday in Visalia.

The victory improved the Owls' overall record to 4-1. Foothill's next game is at 1 p.m., Oct. 23 against visiting San Jose City College.

Women's soccer

The Foothill College women's water polo team's goal of reaching the Northern California playoffs is coming closer and closer to reality.

The Owls won both their games last week to remain atop the Coast Conference with a 4-0 record.

Foothill clobbered Cabrillo 17-4 Oct. 5 and then routed Ohlone 15-2 last Friday. Both games were played in Los Altos Hills.

The Owls had balanced scoring against Cabrillo as four players scored three goals: Laura Thompson, Elyssa Xavier, Joanna Zenou and Laura Smith.

Against Ohlone, Mountain View High graduate Amie Prichard led the way with five goals and Thompson chipped in four. Foothill goalie Katie Rhynard made 16 saves.

The Owls (8-4 overall) play at American River on Thursday and then compete in the River City Tournament over the weekend.

Foothill tied conference leader Cabrillo 0-0 Oct. 5 in Santa Cruz.

The tie put the Owls' record at 1-0-4 in the conference and 2-2-4 overall.
