'Home Run' trot

Home Run 99, a 5K and 10K run benefiting the Stanford chapter of Habitat for Humanity, is set for Oct. 24 at Stanford Stadium. Race-day registration starts at 7:45 a.m. The 5K run begins at 9 a.m. and the 10K is at 9:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division. Los Altos High needs a hurdles coach for track and assistant coaches for girls swimming and gymnastics. If interested, call Monica Lodge at 960-8857. Playing time

The Palo Alto Jewish Community Center is taking sign-ups for its Fall 3-on-3 Basketball League, which plays 4:30-6 p.m., Sundays. Open to those age 40 and over and "couch potatoes" are welcome.
