For Los Altos City Council (three seats): Lou Becker, Kris Casto, Francis La Poll, incumbents. They've been doing a good job, so why change what doesn't need fixing?

Yes on Measures H and I, which would raise the Los Altos utility-user tax from 3.75 percent to 6.25 percent. The residents have spoken - they want better police dispatch services, improved parks, safer streets. This allows the city to pay for these needs.

Yes on Measure E, a $248 million bond measure to fund facilities improvements in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. Our institutions are the envy of others around the nation, yet we fund less per student than virtually any other community college. Facilities have suffered, not appropriate for a bridge to a new high-tech workforce in the middle of Silicon Valley. The buildings need help.
