Tom Myers of Mountain View has been named the new executive director of the Community Services Agency (CSA) of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.

Myers, 39, who previously served at AIDS Resources, Information and Services (ARIS) in San Jose, was scheduled to begin at the Mountain View-based agency this past Monday.

The 1978 Awalt High School graduate served at ARIS for eight years prior to his appointment to CSA, said board president Brown D. Taylor, Jr.

Myers succeeds Tom Pamilla, who left CSA June 30 after serving for more than 12 years.

Taylor said Myers was selected from among 33 candidates. He was employed as associate director of development and public relations at ARIS.

He also has worked for the U.S. Consumer Information Center and the U.S. Peace Corps, both in Washington, D.C.

Myers was part of the first group of Sister City exchange students from Mountain View to Iwata, Japan, in 1976. He is a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Los Altos.

"We're really excited about his joining of CSA," Taylor said Friday. "We think he is going to move our organization to a new high level."

"I'm really pleased," Myers said Friday. "CSA is such a respected organization." He said his "understanding of the local community is extremely high," which he feels will benefit him in the new position.

CSA offers programs and services for needy families living in Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.

Its annual budget is $1.5 million.
