The following are Halloween safety tips for children and pets.

For children:

Plan your route and share it with your family. If possible, have an adult go with you.Wear light-colored or reflective-type clothing so you are more visible. Use face paint rather than masks or things that will cover your eyes.Cross the street only at corners. Carry a flashlight.

For pets:

Excitable pets should be kept away from the door and out of hearing range of the doorbell.

Candy and treats should be kept out of a pet's reach. Chocolate, which includes theobromine, can cause vomiting , heart disturbances or even death ofyour pet.

Candy wrappers, and taffy apples and lollipops with sticks are dangerous to pets as well. Keep them away.
