State Senator Byron Sher, who represents the 11th district that includes Los Altos, plans to lead a local hearing of the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Transportation to field suggestions about how to relieve Bay Area traffic congestion.

The hearing, which will take place at the Palo Alto City Council Chambers on Nov. 15, is open to both local transportation officials and the public.

"With congestion expected to increase nearly 250 percent from traffic conditions in 1990, we must begin now to get a handle on solutions," Sher said.

The meeting is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palo Alto City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave.
