Special to the Town Crier

This holiday season Foothill Disposal will hold its annual "Spirit of Sharing" food and toy drive Nov. 22 to Dec. 17 in Mountain View to benefit needy families served by the Community Services Agency (CSA).

Foothill Disposal employees will collect new toys, games, books, canned goods and non-perishable food items left curbside during the four-week period on residents' regularly scheduled recycling or garbage day.

"Each year we've conducted the drive, I've been impressed with the increasing generosity of our customers," said Foothill Disposal General Manager Steve Fraguglia. "We're happy to provide a way for our customers to make donations to reach those who need them most during the holiday season."

Fliers were delivered to residents earlier this month to introduce the program. Residents may simply put canned goods and toys in a bag, attach the flier or mark the bag clearly with "Spirit of Sharing," and place the donation curbside on their regularly scheduled garbage or recycling day.

Items needed for teenagers include games, toys, books, roller skates or bicycles. Bicycles and larger donations should be dropped off at Foothill Disposal in Mountain View at 935 Terra Bella Ave., located off Shoreline Boulevard between Highway 101 and Middlefield Road.

Food donations should be canned, nonperishable items. Glass packaging should not be used Foods in short supply include canned meat and fish.
