Registration begins at De Anza

De Anza College in Cupertino is accepting applications for the winter quarter, which begins Jan. 3.

Registration dates are as follows: new and former students, Dec. 13-21; continuing students, assigned dates beginning Nov. 29; walk-ins, Dec. 22 and Dec. 28.

The "Winter Quarter Schedule of Classes" is available at the De Anza Bookstore for $1.10 and at Walgreens and Longs drugstores and McWhorter's Stationers as well as online at www.deanza.fhda.edu.

Egan holds holiday fairs

Egan Intermediate School will hold its annual book and holiday fairs the first and second weeks of December to raise money for the school library.

The book fair, which will be held during brunch and lunch periods Dec. 2-9, will feature a wide selection of books appropriate for students in grades 7 and 8.

The holiday fair will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 10 in the school's multi-purpose room, 100 W. Portola Ave., Los Altos.

The event will feature books, handmade crafts, food and other holiday gift items.

Assistant needed for 'Young Fives'

The Mountain View Parent Nursery School has an opening for an assistant and still has spaces available for its Young Fives class.

The class is designed for kids who are ready for something beyond nursery school but may not be ready for kindergarten.

The class meets 12:30-3:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays.

The school is located at 1299 Bryant Ave., behind the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District office.

Mountain View exchange program

Applications are now available for the Mountain View Sister City 13th Student Exchange season.

Students will have the opportunity for a two-week homestay experience in Iwata, Japan or Hasselt, Belgium in the summer of 2000 and then host a foreign student the following year.

Exchange students and their families must participate in fund-raisers to help defray some of the program costs.

Only students living in the Mountian View-Los Altos Union High School District are eligible. Applications are due Dec. 6. For more information, call 968-4481.

English-in-Action needs volunteers

The English-in-Action program needs volunteers to converse in English one hour weekly with Stanford's international students, scholars and spouses.

Health services at St. Mary's

St. Mary's College in Moraga will offer a Health Service Administration degree program starting Jan. 15. The 45-unit program is specifically designed for health care professionals.

The Gunn High School Alumni Directory Project is seeking information about Gunn High School graduates for the new edition of the Alumni Directory.

St. Simon holds car wash fund-raiser

Sixth graders at St. Simon School will hold their annual car wash fund-raiser from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 21 at 1860 Grant Rd. in Los Altos. The cost is $5 per car.

The St. Simon Caring Kids Program will donate all proceeds to needy children.

Oak holds holiday fair

Oak School will hold its annual Holiday Faire from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 19 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 20 at 1501 Oak Ave. in Los Altos.

The event will feature hand-crafted jewelry, specialty chocolates, clothing and garden accessories, as well as a bake sale, raffle and scholastic fair.

Winter registration for Stanford classes

Winter registration starts Nov. 29 for more than 80 evening and weekend classes, seminars and workshops.

Five- and 10-week classes begin Jan. 3.

Information nights at high schools

All eighth graders and their parents are invited to attend information nights to learn more about Los Altos and Mountain View High Schools.

The program for Los Altos High will take place at 7 p.m., Nov. 30 in the gym at 201 Almond Ave. in Los Altos.

The program for Mountain View High will take place at 7 p.m., Dec. 1 in the gym at 3535 Truman Ave. in Mountain View.
