The community is invited to attend the 17th annual Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Community Volunteer Service Awards Luncheon at 11:45 a.m., Dec. 3, at the Los Altos Youth Center, 1 N. San Antonio Road, in Los Altos.

Each year, the volunteer awards recognize between eight and 12 individuals who have given outstanding voluntary service to their communities.

The focus is on rewarding individuals who never seek attention, but who work countless hours in local organizations, special districts and city offices to improve the quality of life for all.

Beverages will be served at 11:45 a.m., with the luncheon and awards to follow at 12:15 p.m.

Last year, 12 residents received honors bringing the total number of those awarded to 154 over the past 16 years.

Those honored last year were Carol Hanzlik, Joe Skinner, Nan Geschke, Thomas Anderson, William Henderson, Joseph Brandon, William Goss, Marilyn Halliday, Fred Graber, Rory Kaplan, and Nancy and Al Traficanti.

The luncheon price is $20. Checks should be made payable to Volunteer Awards Committee and sent no later than Nov. 26, to P.O. Box 1851, Los Altos 94023 .
