Fed Woman's Club meets Dec. 1

The Federated Woman's Club of Los Altos will hold its next monthly business meeting at 11 a.m., Dec. 1, at the Hyatt Hotel, Palo Alto. Luncheon and program will start at 12:30 p.m.

The Los Altos High School Singers will provide entertainment. Guests are welcome.

Coordinating Council hears travel tips

Los Altos Senior Coordinating Council will meet at 12:30 p.m., next Tuesday, in the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave.

Sue Dodson will share the "Secrets of a Travel Agent." She has led trips to the Holy Land and recently to England. She will discuss travel tips to make a trip more enjoyable.

Bring your own brown bag for lunch at noon with the business meeting starting at 12:15. Call the Los Altos Senior Center at 948-7483 to reserve dessert.

Music and Memories at LA History House

The Los Altos History House presents "Music and Memories of the Way We Were: Los Altos During the 1940s," from 2-3 p.m., this Sunday. History House is located at 51 S. San Antonio Road, in the civic center complex, behind the library.

The program this Sunday will feature the war years, the home front and the post war boom with an eyewitness account of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The program will include music from the 1944 Hit Parade, with such songs as "I'll be Seeing You," "Long Ago and Far Away" and "Swinging on a Star."

The program is free. People are invited to come in uniform. For more information, call 948-9427.

Friends of Library gift-book sale

Friends of the Library will hold its annual holiday gift-book sale, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 4, in the program room of the library. The sale will feature books and puzzles in quality condition.

Great Decisions lecture series

The Los Altos library, League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View area and the American Association of University Women are presenting a discussion series, titled, "Great Decisions," beginning Feb. 7, 2000. The program is sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association which also prepares a briefing book that is the foundation of the series.

Participants meet 10 a.m. to noon, every Monday in February and March, except for Feb. 21, in the Community Room of the Los Altos main library, 12 S. San Antonio Road.
