Kim Stahler, new freshman women's soccer coach at St. Francis High School, performs as an extra in the new movie, "The Bachelor," released earlier this month.

Stahler, 31, had several close-ups in the film, including scenes where she stands next to a priest and a police car, and another where a tiara is taken off her head.

Stahler said she started auditioning for bit parts because she "wanted to be in the industry, and this is the first step to be an extra. I've been fortunate that I'm not way in the back."

Her agent told her about the opportunity to appear in the movie that was shot in San Francisco.

"The Bachelor" stars Chris O'Donnell as a proud bachelor who will inherit $120 million if he marries by the next day, his 33rd birthday. The PG-13 flick also features Brooke Shields, Mariah Carey, and Renee Zellweger as O'Donnell's longtime girlfriend.

Stahler has worked as an extra in other movies. "Acting is an interest of mine, and if I landed a big part, I would go for it," Stahler said. "It's not something I'm totally pursuing."

She has acted in the television show, "Nash Bridges," and movies, "Patch Adams" and "Boys and Girls," opening next summer.

In addition to coaching at St. Francis, Stahler teaches tennis at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club.

Born and raised in Los Altos, Stahler played tennis, softball and soccer for St. Francis as a student athlete.

"It's exciting to coach for the same team I played on," she said.

Stahler recently returned to Los Altos to be closer to her family. "It's great to be back," she said. "I really wanted to get back in touch with my family. I hadn't lived around them for about 10 years."

After leaving Los Altos, Stahler worked in the corporate world in Newport Beach and Sacramento, and also lived in Mexico, teaching tennis at Club Med.

"Now that I'm back, I'm getting back into acting," she said. "It's something that would work part-time."

"The Bachelor" is currently playing at Almaden Cinema 5 and UA Pavilion 8 in San Jose.
