Los Altos Senior Center

Note: Los Altos Sunset Rotary will replace old batteries or defective smoke alarms for seniors at no cost. Sign up at the Senior Center or call 948-7483. A member of the Los Altos Sunset Rotary Cub will contact seniors for an appointment to make the change.

Mountain View Senior Center

The Los Altos Senior Center is located in the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. For more information call 948-7483.

The Mountain View Senior Center is located at 266 Escuela Ave. Mountain View. For more information, call 903-6330.

Following is a list of special events for the month for both centers.

Sunday, 2 p.m.: The Los Altos Big Band, a seventeen-piece band, will be performing dance music. Admission is $3. Refreshments available.

Dec. 9, 1 p.m.: Free class by Mountain View Police Department about telephone fraud. Have you given someone your credit card number over the phone? Would you call a 976 number to accept your grand prize? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you could be a victim of telephone fraud.

Dec. 12, 2 p.m.: Video Sunday. "Shakespeare in Love." Admission is 50 cents, which includes light refreshments.

Dec. 15, 10:30 a.m.: Celebrate the holidays at the senior center's holiday reception. Enjoy live music, sing-a-longs, dancing and refreshments. No fee for the event.

Dec. 19, 2 p.m.: "Jazzmatazz" will perform modern dance at the center. Admission is $1 with refreshments.

Dec. 21, 11:15 a.m.: Orientation and tour of senior center. An overview of classes, coming events and social services are explained.

Dec. 31, 1-4 p.m.: "Celebrate 2000." Celebrate the coming of the new millennium at the center. Food, music, entertainment and friends. Cost is $5. Music will be provided by the "Bigger Than Life Band."
