Foothill Disposal is holding its annual "Spirit of Sharing" food and toy drive through Dec. 17 in Mountain View. The drive benefits needy families served by the Community Services Agency.
Foothill Disposal employees will collect new toys, games, books, canned goods and nonperishable food items during the four-week period.
"Each year we've conducted the drive, I've been impressed with the increasing generosity of our customers," said Steve Fraguglia, general manager of Foothill Disposal. "We're happy to provide a way for our customers to make donations to reach those who need them most during the holiday season."
Residents may put canned goods and toys in a bag, attach the flier or mark the bag clearly with "Spirit of Sharing," and then place the donation curbside on their regularly scheduled garbage or recycling day. Special trucks will pick up the donations and deliver them to the agency for distribution within the local community.
There is a need for items for teenagers, including games, toys, books, roller skates and bicycles. Bicycles and larger donations should be dropped off at Foothill Disposal, 935 Terra Bella Ave., Mountain View.
Food donations should consist of canned, nonperishable items. Glass packaging will not be accepted. Foods in short supply include canned milk, meats, fish, soups, vegetables and juices, as well as rice, pasta and peanut butter in plastic jars. All items must have their original labels.
