Moss assumes role of mayor

printer friendly version Print this story

New Los Altos Mayor John Moss cuts the congratulatory cake during a Nov. 23 reception for him and the outgoing Mayor Lou Becker, held at the Los Altos Youth Center. Councilman King Lear was named mayor pro tem. Moss, who was elected to the council in 1997, will serve as mayor for one year under a city system that has each councilmember taking one-year turns in the mayoral role. The role, largely ceremonial, doesn't give Moss any greater authority than the other councilmembers, but it may require his presence at a few more ribbon cuttings.
