Marcello Centofanti of Los Altos has been named a Commended Student in the

Year 2000 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Commended Students were among the top 3 percent of the more than one million students taking the Preliminary SAT Qualifying Test in the fall of 1998. Marcello is a senior at Woodside Priory School.

Travis Gould, son of Doug and Gini Gould of Los Altos, was among approximately 600 students to participate in the Fall 1999 Semester at Sea program - an international study program that takes college students around the world each semester.

Gould, a student at the University of Wisconsin, spent the semester aboard the S.S. Universe Explorer, visiting Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Egypt, Turkey, Croatia, Italy and Morocco.

The voyage began Sept. 14 from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and ends Dec. 23 in Florida.
