Winter classes for Foothill College's Travel Careers Program will begin Jan. 3.
The program offers students travel industry training in areas including airline computer reservations, destinations, sales and other travel-related topics.
Students may earn a certificate or associate degree in the program.
Students may also enroll in specialized Saturday seminars from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including Highlights of East Africa, Jan. 22; Fantasy Honeymoons, Feb. 12; and Travel Industry Resumes and Interview Techniques, March 18.
Students may register for winter quarter now through Dec. 28.

Associate degrees online at Foothill College
Students may register for any of Foothill College's online associate degree programs for winter quarter now through Dec. 28.
Foothill is one of the first colleges in the nation to offer online associate degrees.
Students may earn an associate degree by enrolling in a prescribed sequence of online classes including 90 units, 24 of which must be taken at Foothill College; maintaining a 2.0 grade point average in all college courses; completing a major of at least 30 units in an approved curriculum; and completing six general education requirements.
All of the online classes are transferable to four-year universities.
California residents pay $7 per unit for Foothill Courses, plus related fees.

St. Francis holds Open House
St. Francis High School will hold its annual Open House for prospective students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Sunday at the school, 1885 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View. Tours will be offered every 15 minutes.
Visiting students will have an opportunity to learn about the school's academic and extracurricular programs as well as to tour the campus and meet the faculty.
Applications for the Class of 2004 are now available at the Admissions Office.
The application deadline is Jan. 28, 2000.
Entrance exams will be given at St. Francis on Jan. 8 and Jan. 22.

Newsweek sponsors essay competition
Local high school students have the opportunity to win a $1,000 college scholarship this spring through the 2000 Kaplan/Newsweek "My Turn" Essay Competition sponsored by Kaplan Educational Centers and Newsweek magazine.
Participants must submit a 500-1,000 word essay on a topic of their choice that shares an opinion, experience or personal feeling.
Entries must be accompanied by an official entry form and postmarked by March 1, 2000.
