Celebrate the Twelfth Day of Christmas and the end of the holiday season with Mountain View High School Madrigal and Chamber choirs. They are hosting a fundraising event, "A Twelfth Night Concert and Dessert" at 7 p.m., Jan. 6, at Los Altos United Methodist Church Creekside Room, 655 Magdalena Ave.

After-dinner tickets sold out for celebration
The $75 after-dinner tickets for the Dec. 31 Los Altos and Los Altos Hills Millennium Celebration are sold out, according to organizers. However, tickets remain for the dinner at $450 per person.
The event is scheduled to ring in the new year and new century at 7 p.m. on the grounds of the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. Up to 1,200 people are expected to usher in the Millennium by dining on a gourmet dinner and dancing to the music of two bands.

New Year's Eve bell ringing celebration
The city of Mountain View invites revelers to ring in the new millennium at a unique New Year's Eve Bell Ringing Celebration at Civic Center Plaza, 500 Castro St.
Festivities will begin at 1l:15 p.m., and include a performance by the Bay Bells bell choir, a big screen broadcast of the official Times Square countdown, a community bell ringing celebration at midnight and refreshments. The celebration is a non-alcohol event sponsored by the city of Mountain View and open to everyone.
Santa appearances at Rancho
Santa is taking lists from good girls and boys, and posing for photos from his Santa House at Rancho Shopping Center, Springer Road and Foothill Expressway, Los Altos. Santa will make appearances from noon to 4 p.m. daily through Christmas Eve.
Memorial quilts on display
The Mountain View Center for Performing Arts is displaying an exhibit of 45 AIDS Memorial Quilts through Jan. 4.
Nearly 43,000 colorful hand-made panels in the quilt commemorate the lives of 83,279 people lost to AIDS, approximately 20 percent of all U.S. AIDS patients.
The quilts also represent the sorrow, anger, love and hope of the diverse people who created the panels.
The exhibit is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 1 p.m. and one hour prior to any performance at the Center for Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

New storytime schedule at library
The Los Altos main library has a new storytime schedule for the month of January.
Toddler storytime (ages 2-3) is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday; preschool storytime (ages 3-5) is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday and Thursday; bedtime storytime (ages 3 and up) is 7 p.m., Thursday.

Vets needing help on Christmas
The VA Palo Alto Health Care System, formerly known as the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, is seeking volunteers at the hospital to help veterans on Christmas Day. Volunteers are encouraged to meet in Building 7, the Spinal Cord Injury Dayroom, at 9:30 a.m. to distribute gifts and participate in Christmas carols.

Chefs Who Care at Clarkes
The next Chefs Who Care fundraiser for the Community Services Agency is 5:30-7:30 p.m., Jan. 11, at Clarkes Charcoal Broiler in Rancho Shopping Center, Springer Road and Foothill Expressway, Los Altos.
Half the cost of the dinner will benefit the agency's food and nutrition program, which feeds area needy families. Guests may choose from three entrees: roast pork, grilled sea bass and pasta primavera.
