Walz out Zack Walz of Los Altos was having a breakout season with the Arizona Cardinals until he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last month in a game against the Detroit Lions. Walz, a second-year linebacker out of Dartmouth, will miss the rest of the season. The St. Francis High graduate had 67 tackles, a sack, three quarterback pressures and three passes defensed this year. Lightning strikes Seven members of the Palo Alto Lightning track & field club competed in the Region 14 Cross Country Junior Olympics Nov. 21 in Pleasanton. Participants included Isaac and Zachary Klapholz-Brown (Stanford), Naomi Glassman (Mountain View), Megan Fung (Palo Alto), Arwen Bradley (Mountain View), Ben Bluett-Mills (Redwood City) and Daniel Seddiqui (Los Altos Hills). What a racquet Friday is the deadline to sign up for the Page Mill YMCA's Winter Racquetball League. The league, which runs Jan. 8 through March 12, welcomes A-, B-, C- and D-level players.
