Men fall in Santa Rosa
It wasn't pretty, but the Foothill College women's basketball team edged rival De Anza 61-56 last Sunday in the third-place game of the Sacramento City Classic.
"We didn't play very well at all," Foothill coach Jody Craig said. "We weren't mentally into it after what happened Saturday."
What happened was that the Owls (11-4) committed 27 turnovers in a 63-54 loss to a Sac City team they crushed by 23 points the previous week.
The Owls protected the ball better against De Anza, but Craig said they were out-played in the second half.
Foothill didn't put the game away until Yolanda White converted a lay-up with 40 seconds left to put her team up by six.
White, who finished with 14 points, and Sheree Taft both made the all-tournament team.
Line Kongeskov scored a team-high 18 points against the Dons and pulled down seven rebounds.
Foothill hosts Delta at 6 p.m., Thursday.
The Foothill men's basketball team lost 71-58 to host Santa Rosa last Saturday in the third-place game of the Santa Rosa Kris Kringle Classic.
The Owls (6-10) were led by Carvell Wafer and Tyler McClenahan, who scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Foothill plays at West Valley at 7 p.m., Thursday.
